چکیده

We are studying the efficient solution of system linear equations stemming from mass conserving stress-yielding (MCS) discretization Stokes equations. perform static condensation to arrive at a for pressure and velocity unknowns. An auxiliary space preconditioner positive definite block makes use scalable solvers conforming Finite Element spaces low order is analyzed with emphasis placed on robustness in polynomial degree discretization. Numerical experiments demonstrate potential this approach efficiency implementation.

A Scalable Auxiliary Space Preconditioner for High-order Finite Element Methods

In this paper, we revisit an auxiliary space preconditioning method proposed by Xu [Computing 56, 1996], in which low-order finite element spaces are employed as auxiliary spaces for solving linear algebraic systems arising from high-order finite element discretizations. We provide a new convergence rate estimate and parallel implementation of the proposed algorithm. We show that this method is...

A Relaxation Method for Surface-Conforming Prisms

This paper presents a method for computing thin layers of high-quality, triangular prisms that conform to surfaces that are specified as level sets of an implicit function. Triangular prisms are important in circumstances where volumetric meshes need to capture the geometries materials with thin layers–i.e. that are smooth relative to their thickness–or where, as in fluid mechanics simulations,...

Deriving the X-Z Identity from Auxiliary Space Method∗

posed on a finite dimensional Hilbert space V equipped with an inner product (·, ·). Here A : V 7→ V is a symmetric positive definite (SPD) operator, f ∈ V is given, and we are looking for u ∈ V such that (1) holds. The X-Z identity for the multiplicative subspace correction method for solving (1) is introduced and proved in Xu and Zikatanov [2002]. Alternative proves can be found in Cho et al....

A tetrahedral space-filling curve for non-conforming adaptive meshes

We introduce a space-filling curve for triangular and tetrahedral red-refinement that can be computed using bitwise interleaving operations similar to the well-known Z-order or Morton curve for cubical meshes. To store the information necessary for random access, we suggest 10 bytes per triangle and 14 bytes per tetrahedron. We present algorithms that compute the parent, children, and face-neig...

A Fully Mass and Volume Conserving Implementation of a Characteristic Method for Transport Problems

The characteristics-mixed method considers the transport not of a single point or fluid particle, but rather the mass in an entire region of fluid. This mass is transported along the characteristic curves of the hyperbolic part of the transport equation, and the scheme thereby produces very little numerical dispersion, conserves mass locally, and can use long time steps. However, since the shap...
